Short version: TidyDisk has no accounts and no servers. Scanning happens entirely on your Mac, file names and contents never leave it, and nothing is sold or shared with third parties.
1. Who We Are
TidyDisk is developed and maintained by the TidyDisk team ("we", "us", or "our"). Questions about this policy: support.actitrack@gmail.com.
2. What Data Is Accessed and Why
2.1 Your Files and Folders On device
- What: File names, sizes, dates, and contents of the folders you explicitly choose to scan.
- Why: To measure disk usage and identify duplicates, junk, empty items and large files.
- Where it goes: Nowhere. Scanning, hashing and comparison run entirely on your Mac. Results live in the app's local storage.
2.2 Photos Library Optional
- What: Photos and their metadata, if you use the Photos tab.
- Why: To find duplicates, bursts, screenshots and low-quality shots.
- Where it goes: Analysis is on-device. Deletions move photos to Recently Deleted through the Photos app; the library file is never modified directly.
2.3 Installed Applications On device
- What: Names, sizes and last-used dates of apps, plus their caches and support files.
- Why: To power the Uninstaller.
- Where it goes: Stays on your Mac.
2.4 Purchases App Store
- What: Whether you own the Pro unlock.
- Why: To enable deletion in the Pro tabs.
- Where it goes: Handled entirely by Apple's App Store. We never receive your name, card details, or billing address.
3. Data We Do NOT Collect
- We do not run any servers — the app makes no network calls of its own.
- We do not upload your files, file names, or scan results.
- We do not use advertising identifiers or ad tracking.
- We do not use third-party analytics SDKs.
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your data.
- We do not ask you to create an account or collect your email address.
4. Diagnostics & Crash Logs
TidyDisk keeps a local session log of the actions it took, so you can see what was moved to the Trash. It never leaves your Mac unless you attach it yourself when emailing us. Crash reports, if you have them enabled, are delivered anonymously by Apple; opt out in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
5. Deletion Safety
TidyDisk moves items to the Trash rather than erasing them, and skips any folder you mark as protected. Emptying the Trash is always your own action.
6. Children's Privacy
TidyDisk is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.
7. Your Rights
- No account to delete: the app has no sign-up, so we hold nothing of yours.
- Revoke permissions: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Files and Folders / Photos / Full Disk Access.
- Delete all app data: delete the app.
8. Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes we will update the "Last updated" date on this page.
